Biography

Dr. Gagan Kumar received his Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India, in 2008 and is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at IIT Guwahati. He joined IIT Guwahati in 2013 and served as an assistant professor of Physics from 2013 to 2018. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher from 2008 to 2010 at the University of Utah in the Salt Lake City and postdoctoral Research Associate from 2010 to 2013 at the University of Maryland, College Park, USA. His research focus primarily has been to investigate the planar plasmonic terahertz guided-wave devices and terahertz metamaterials. He has published more than 45 articles in international journals of high repute and more than 30 papers in international conferences. He has delivered more than 20 invited lectures at different events and institutions. He is recipient of Young Scientist Fast Track and Young Scientist Research Award from the Department of Science and Technology in 2014, and the Department of Atomic energy in 2015, respectively. He was also selected for the award of Ramanujan fellowship in 2015. He is currently a member of several scientific societies and a senior member of the IEEE and the Optical Society of America.
