Biography

Dr. Ferreira is currently Associate Professor at Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ), in Brazil, where he is the Founding Director of the Instrumentation and Computational Simulation Laboratory (LISComp) and head of research and innovation at his campus. Prof. Ferreira received his undergraduate degree and Master degree, both in Physics, from the Federal Fluminense University and he received his Ph.D. in Geophysics from the National Observatory. During the doctorate course, he spent a sandwich period in the BioComplex Laboratory from the Florida Institute of Technology. Ferreira is member of the Brazilian Physical Society and the Brazilian Geophysical Society. Dr. Ferreira has been a reviewer for many international scientific journals and books. He has experience in the field of Statistical Physics and Geophysics, acting mainly on the following themes: Earthquake Statistical Characterizations, Complex Networks, Statistical Physics, Self-Organized Critical Systems, Non-extensive Statistical Mechanics.
